Adnan Menderes Airport International Terminal was built on the ' Build-Operate-Transfer model; construction finished eight months earlier than planned and the terminal was inaugurated in September 2006. The terminal is spread over a 108,000 m2 area.

Five thousands passengers and 45 flights a day

Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport International Terminal is used by around 40 to 45 flights a day and serves close to five thousand passengers. In peak periods these figures rise to 10,000 passengers and 70 to 80 flights per day. Adnan Menderes Airport International Terminal services some 85 airlines from all corners of the globe and reaches out to 49 countries, with a total of 121 destinations.
 
Servicing close to 100 airlines from all around the world, Adnan Menderes Airport International Terminal is equipped with the most advanced aviation systems such as the CUTE, a system that connects international airlines with a single application, thereby avoiding separate baggage check-ins for transfers, and with automated baggage handling systems capable of sorting five thousand pieces per hour. Each piece of baggage is scanned with the Explosive Detection System in six separate stages prior to loading at Adnan Menderes Airport providing 100 percent baggage monitoring. A second factor in the security system is the Baggage Reconciliation System, which couples the baggage loaded with boarding passengers.
