The main gateway to the Aegean region in Turkey, Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport fulfilled the requirements against COVID-19 and received the certification.
Operated by TAV Airports, Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport strengthens its commitment to safeguard the wellbeing of travelers and airport staff through the ACI Airport Health Accreditation program.
TAV Ege General Manager Erkan Balcı said “Aviation is a strictly regulated global business. Due to border closures, it’s one of the worst affected sectors by the COVID-19 pandemic but it’s also one of the fastest adapting to the challenges brought by the pandemic. Since the introduction of travel restrictions and lockdowns back in March, we have taken all the precautions set out by the authorities to protect the wellbeing of our employees and passengers. We have complied with the certification programme established by the Turkish Civil Aviation Authority and committed to the EASA Covid-19 Protocol. Now, we are certified through the ACI Airport Health Accreditation programme. Since the easing of travel restrictions in June, we have been providing a safe travel experience to our passengers”.
A total of 11 airports in TAV’s portfolio will be accredited in the ACI Airport Health Accreditation programme. Thus far, Ankara Esenboga, Gazipaşa-Alanya, Monastir, Enfidha, Skopje, Zagreb and Medinah airports are accredited.
Izmir Adnan Menderes served 4 million 768 thousand passengers in the first 10 months of 2020.
