Ellinair Launches Direct Flights From Izmir To Thessaloniki

Ellinair started to launch Thessaloniki flights from Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport. The reciprocal direct flights between Izmir and Thessaloniki will be performed two times a week.

Operated by TAV Airports, Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport hosted the ceremony held for the launching of Thessaloniki flights by Greek airline company Ellinair. Reciprocal flights are scheduled on Saturdays and Tuesdays. The ceremony held at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport welcomed Regional Governor of Macedonia Apostolos Tzitzikostas, Thessaloniki Mayor Yannis Boutaris, Deputy Governor responsible from Adnan Menderes Airport Zülkif Dağlı, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu, State Airports Authority (DHMI) Adnan Menderes Airport Director Erdal Çavuşoğlu, Ellinair President Giannis Mouzenidis, Head of İzmir Chamber of Commerce Ekrem Demirtaş, Head of Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry Dimitrios Bakatselos, TAV Ege General Manager F. Erkan Balcı and many other guests including public officials, tourism officials and journalists from Thessaloniki and Izmir.

 

TAV Ege General Manager F. Erkan Balcı stated, “Being amongst the most significant tourism and trade cities of the country, Izmir opens its gates to the world with the new destinations included to our flight network. Today, we are connected to 20 domestic destinations as well as 74 international destinations at 27 countries with direct flights performed from Adnan Menderes Airport. We are glad to connect Izmir and Thessaloniki with Ellinair. We believe the deep-routed history and continuously progressing relationship between Turkey and Greece, particularly in recent years, will further improve with tourism sector."

Adnan Menderes Airport provided services to almost 11 million passengers in 2014 by achieving an increase of 7 percent compared to 2013. The airport also hosted 74,048 flights at the same period by an increase of 7 percent.
